Shooting with Cedar - Nicholas Steven

August 1st, 2018

A warm summer evening with a handsome pup in a backyard setting - doesn't get much better! Always so much fun photographing dogs, and Cedar is certainly no exception. To say he is photogenic is an understatement. Just look at that face!

When photographing dogs, I almost always opt for the candid moments, but sometimes you just have to get those silly "sit and stare" portraits too. As with nearly any other subject I shoot, I love using natural light (especially golden evening light!), various angles, different depths, and a mixed look of cinematic, dreamy, and organic moments.

Like many other dogs, Cedar is a ball of energy, seemingly able to chase sticks all day long. While this can be challenging in a photography session, I look at it as opportunity to capture fun images. Toys and treats come in handy, but bubbles are always a good idea too :)

Interested in immortalizing your furry friend and beasts with a personal gallery of photos? I offer on location outdoor dog shoots with an emphasis on capturing your best friends personality.

Thirty minute sessions with your own private gallery of twenty photos are available for $150, contact me today to book!

Want to learn shooting techniques for dog photography? Be on the lookout for a future blog post where I will share tips and tricks for capturing these silly, often fast moving, subjects.

Stay tuned for many more future blog posts - from weddings, to food/dining, adventure elopements, travel, and of course, photography.

Cheers!
